The Vanona project · Madagascar

A school for tomorrow’s eco-citizens

A school offering a different way to learn, where a connection to the land and cooperation help children and families grow.

The Vanona project

Education, the land and the community

The Terra Colibris association is preparing Vanona, a school project in Madagascar based on education, a connection with the land and cooperation with families. Academic learning, gardening and family support are designed as parts of a single project.

The project in detail

The three pillars of Vanona

01 - Education

The educational project

Combine an enriched curriculum with active, inclusive teaching methods. Develop knowledge, independence and cooperation while respecting each child’s pace and wellbeing.

02 - The land

A connection with the land

Use the permaculture garden and the environment as places to learn. Grow food, observe and understand how resources are used to connect knowledge with everyday life and supply the school canteen.

03 - Community

Parents and the community

Involve parents in school life, support families and share skills. Build lasting relationships with residents and local stakeholders.
